We’ve talked about it all for the spring fashion trends for 2017: the colors, the inspirations, the shapes… but what about the biggest pattern of the season? The colors are dazzling with sunshine yellows and bright pinks, the dresses are short and the inspirations from Paris and beyond have been floating like a dream down the runways.
Yet, we haven’t touched on the most predominant pattern of the season- florals. I know, I know, it’s so Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada: ““Florals, for spring, groundbreaking.”
But if it isn’t broke… don’t fix it, yanno?
This season, much like the spring and summer seasons before it, is inundated and infatuated with all things floral. We want it. We crave it. We’ve got to have it.
While The LUXELLE chose to go a little more low-key on the floral print this season; instead opting for truly bold uses of the popular pinks and yellows, we still added small touches to our spring collection, allowing us to pay homage to the trend, while still staying within our own vision.
With small magnolia blossoms gracing the bottoms of the Popover Dress or shining big and bright on the top shoulder, we wanted to embrace the fun of the floral in our own way. But that doesn’t mean we don’t love the other amazing ways to style your florals this spring and we would be remiss not to mention some of the top styles this season.
From pairing a bold floral print with a solid pattern, to adorning a dress completely decked out in roses, to dare I say- floral on floral- the time is now to bust out that flower rockin’ frock and wear it proud.
But it’s not just about wearing florals on your clothes. A cute floral clutch is the perfect way to add style and pattern to any LBD, or dress up your hair with a whimsical floral crown as you hit the festival circuit this year. With a beautiful pattern almost anything is possible and nothing could be more tried and true then some good ol’ fashioned flowery fun.
The spring/ summer catwalks showed us just that this year, with the biggest names in fashion perpetrating the typical spring trends, but with brave new color combinations, different size ratios and basically giving the world permission to wear florals on any single piece of clothing imaginable.
Literally, nothing is off the table this season: from jackets, pants, skirts, leggings, shoes, purses and blouses… if there is fabric available, then feel free to make it blossom with beauty.
And if I’m being honest… I don’t see this trend going away any time soon. I suspect that florals will forever be a staple of the spring/ summer fashions. While some things must ebb and flow through time before regaining popularity once more, this seems to be a steadfast style for years to come.
